Many of you know that I prefer Stand-up work stations from my posts, but the review below educates on a very cool chair that can do both seated and stand up type work stations by using a saddle type design. Link to my standup article.
Okay on with the review from http://www.officechairadvice.com
Review of The HAG Capisco Chair (the Saddle Chair)
The HAG Capisco range really can be described as a unique office seating product, you won’t find anything quite like it in any other ergonomic office seating range.
The height variation adjustment on a HAG Capisco is far greater than a normal office chair and allows the user to go from a low-seated position to a half-standing position should you wish to.
Capisco Model 8106
The Capisco is the perfect chair for use with height adjustable workstations or variable height work surfaces.
The range of seating positions is also enormous, you sit facing forwards in your HAG ergonomic Capisco much as you might a conventional office chair or you can sit on it backwards and rest your elbows on the uniquely styled back.
Alternatively, you can sit on the chair sideways and rest your arm on the chair back. You will find all these seating variations offered by the Capisco ergonomic office chair to be both comfortable and supportive.
A lot of people still refer to the Capisco as the saddle chair and this is due to the saddle seat pan fitted to some of the Capisco models.
When Peter Opsvik designed the Capisco the concept of the seating position of a horse rider was very much in his mind.
If you consider the position a horse rider adopts in the saddle, in many respects it is the ideal seating position. The body is in a natural open position with the thighs pointing downwards and feet holding them in this natural position via the stirrups. As the rider moves the body moves in a rocking motion actively encouraging good blood circulation and use of the spine and muscles.
When you sit in HAG Capisco and as you move in it your movements are actually quite similar to a horse rider in a saddle.
HAG Capisco Ergonomic Chair Models
The HAG Capisco model 8105 comes with the classic Capisco saddle seat and is height adjustable from approximately 18” to 26”. At first, this may appear to be higher than a normal office chair and this is due to the concept of sitting in a more open position effectively lengthening the body’s seated position.
The Capisco model 8106 has the addition of a backrest to the basic 8105 and the model 8107 has the further addition of an adjustable headrest.
Capisco Model 8126
The Capisco model 8126 is a more recent addition to the Capisco range and includes a backrest. The main difference between it and the classic Capisco ergonomic seat is in the seat pad design.
Here HAG have opted for a more traditional turned down waterfall front, rather than the heavily contoured saddle seat pan.
The reason for this is to encourage the user to sit more actively, both at high and low levels. If you prefer to sit with your legs fairly close together and use a normal to mid-height desk position this is probably the best choice of Capisco chair for you. The Capisco model 8127 has the addition of an adjustable headrest.
Extra height gas lifts are available for all of the Capisco range, useful if you intend to work consistently at a higher level.
All HAG Capisco chairs have the following features:
Fully floating seat setting
3 lockable seating angles
Seat depth adjustment
Seat height adjustment
Tilt tension adjustment to suit the user’s weight
5 star aluminium swivel base with molded footrests
Adjustment user guide housed in a slot in the seat pan’s underside
The Capisco models 8107 and 8127 include a headrest which can be adjusted in both height and depth to suit your own needs.
